SKIPATHON AND SPORTS DAY
Thank you to all those who came and supported the children. A total of £121 was raised for the Heart Foundation.
VISITS THIS WEEK
Years 3, 4 and 5 had a very special day at Arlington Court on Monday. The Education Department there was excellent and we shall certainly be going again. "..I'm always going to remember the carriage ride I had".. "I had a brilliant day"... were among the comments on the thank you letters to the staff. Year 6 were very enthusiastic about their induction visit to Braunton on Tuesday and we are sure Class 2 will have equally enjoyed their visit to Braunton with Mrs. Mortimer.
CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR
Class 4 - All pupils who will be in Years 5 and 6 will be in Mrs. Tamlyn's class and both Mrs. Sexon and Mrs. Lifford will support this group on a regular basis.
Class 3 - All pupils who will be in Years 3 and 4 will be in Class 3 with Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Sexon.
Class 2 - All pupils who will be in Year 2 and those born in 1996 in Year 1 will be with Mrs. Mortimer.
Class 1 - All Reception children and those who will be in Year 1 born in 1997 will be with Miss Spencer.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please can we start back to school next term with all children in correct school uniform. We have included the relevant page from the prospectus to remind you. Please come and see the lost property pile if you think your children have mislaid any items. There is still quite a lot of building work to be done over the holidays and we do not want to have extra clothes around.
School uniform
The Governors and staff at Georgeham think school uniform is important. It gives a sense of belonging, it looks smart and it's a practical way of dressing our children. All children need to wear our school uniform which consists of:-
Georgeham School sweatshirt
Grey trousers/grey shorts or grey skirt/pinafore dress
Red gingham dress/skirt in summer (optional)
White shirt or white blouse or white polo T shirt
Grey/white or black socks or tights
Dark, plain shoes, sandals or trainers. Sensible footwear is vital for children to play safely and also for their feet to grow properly therefore we would like children to wear dark plain, flat shoes (2" heels are not appropriate for children to wear all day in school)
For PE
Black shorts
A change of shoes which can be plimsolls or trainers
GUITAR LESSONS NEXT TERM
Anybody wishing to start guitar lessons next term please see Mrs. Tamlyn as soon as possible. As a school we particularly support Year 5's if they would like the opportunity to learn.
HEADLICE
They have reared their ugly heads again. Please deal with them so we can start next term with clear heads.
KS2 VISIT TO MILLENNIUM WOOD
On Tuesday afternoon, 16th July, we are going to try again to go to Darracott to see the trees we planted in the Year 2000. Please can the children come with appropriate clothes for the weather e.g Wellington boots may be essential!
NEWS FROM FROGS
Summer Fete 2002
We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and we are sure you will be happy to hear that this year's Fete made a profit of £1,400 for the School but FROGS would like to make one more effort to raise even more with a NON UNIFORM DAY ON WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK 17TH JULY. (Suggested donation £1.00.)
The Committee would like to give a huge vote of thanks to all who helped and supported this year's event. People's generosity was overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Much to the Committee's relief, after having checked the weather forecast at least every ten minutes throughout the day, it was a fine and dry evening for the Fete.
We would like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to a number of individuals and companies. However should we have missed anyone out, we apologise in advance for our oversight, but we do have quite a long list so please bear with us - here goes!
Thanks to: Mark Lewis for the production and printing of a wonderful Programme. To our many advertisers, especially 'tiki' who also donated the star prize for this year's raffle, to Tescos, to Tony Bruce for helping on the day and for the loan of various equipment, to the Oldhams for stepping into the breach and lending us a large barbecue at short notice, to the Yeos and Hodges, to Ben Byrom at West Cross Garage, to Roylands Riding Stables, to the T.A. for the loan of one large tent which proved quite a challenge to construct, to The Thatch for sound equipment, to Mr. Rudman and Heida for use of electricity, to Jane Okeremi for car parking facilities and numerous cups of tea throughout the day for those setting-up. Thanks to all those who gave up their time to make cakes, dug up their gardens in aid of the plant stall and to those who helped to run the stalls. Finally, thanks to the children who provided our Tombola with loads of sweets in jars and to those who gave us an excellent display of both dancing around the maypole and skipping to music.
Thanks to all once again and apologies to those who haven't been mentioned in person, but as you can see we weren't joking when we said the list was an extremely long one!
PHOTOGRAPHS
Please hand in any remaining money and/or photographs before the end of term.
STRANGERS
We have received information about various strange cars touring the area. Please talk to your children if this is appropriate.
