Christmas at Georgeham - 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and 2006!

Christmas 2002 raised more than £400 raised for Make - A - Wish Foundation and RSPCA. Class 4 raised more than £200 with their Coffee Morning alone.

The final assembly was different in 2002 because we all took a part in the story of the birth of Jesus and thought about the different characters and what they would be feeling like more than 2000 years ago. A fitting end to our Autumn Term.
2003 surpassed all fund raising expectations with more than £650 raised for Children's Hospice Southwest and the Blue Peter appeal!
This year we also had the world record attempt with 'For a Better
Tomorrow' and a special KS1 assembly in school when parents friends and KS2 were invited to share a special adaptation of the Christmas story from the point of view of the angels. This was
followed by a service in the church when everybody in the school formed part of the nativity scene.
The last three days included watching Theatre Alibi with a fabulous rendering of Michael Rosen poems. Duncan Wright came in to lead our Christmas Worship on Friday morning, but as the prizes arrived for Ruby and Jack, who won the Road Safety Poster competition. Our final assembly of the term included telling Aisha and Ellen they'd got through to the finals of the National Maths challenge and Father Christmas circling overhead in a helicopter! A very special time.
2004 fundraising surpassed every previous year. The Coffee Morning was even more successful than last year. Altogether the children raised £900 for Kiigya School, Macmillan Nurses and the Lydia Cross Appeal. The school performed in the Village Hall to their parents with KS1 taking a Pirate theme while KS2 performed the pantomime Cinderella with a difference!
The grotto in Class 1 is another tradition that is part of Christmas in our school. Year 6 are Father Christmas's helpers and ask the younger children what they are hoping for at Christmas. They give them a chocolate coin along with their best wishes. Some very special conversations go on here between the oldest and the youngest in our school.

Christmas 2005 the children raised more than £600 at their coffee morning to be shared between the charities Childline, RSPCA and Toybox.
Christmas 2006 at Georgeham started with decorating the school at the beginning of Advent, followed by the Coffee Morning. The children raised more than £500 to share between Amigos International, Children's Hospice South West and the Dogs Trust. The total rose to £800 after the performance which was a lot of hard work by us all but another great success! Thank you also to our Friends of Georgeham School who raised money for us, Mrs Ash and Mrs. Heyland for an excellent Christmas dinner, Father Christmas and also Brian Strange for leading our Carol service on the last day of term.
