Letter from Robert Cornell

New Buildings
As you are no doubt aware our school has been growing rapidly over the last few years and the need for an additional classroom had become a priority. A few months ago our school had the good fortune to be awarded a substantial sum of money from the Local Education Authority (LEA) to provide an additional classroom.
At the same time the LEA decided that the money should be spent on a temporary classroom to be located on the school?s new safe play area. The Governors decided to reject this idea as it was felt that with the funds offered by the LEA and with additional funding available they could build a permanent classroom. They also felt there were enough funds available to relocate the kitchen area and carry out other alterations to the school.
We are in the process of obtaining planning permission and estimates for this project. The LEA has to give their formal go-ahead for this project, which we expect by mid August. Once we have this we expect the building work to commence straight away.
We will keep you informed of our progress.
