School Year 2002 - 2003

This page is just a small selection of the activities we have done. As well as this page, please don't forget to look on the other Gallery pages for sport, clubs, Christmas, outings, etc.

This photograph shows the winners of the Egg Competition. Families were asked to decorate an egg to display at the FROGS Coffee Morning. The results were fantastic and no-one wanted to judge them! In the end Class 4 made the decisions and they did an excellent job choosing a mixture of artistic, topical and 'clever' designs. Well done Class 4 and well done the Barlow, Simpson, Manley-Lewis,Barouh, Rinvolucri and Bennett families!
A brilliant evening for our children. Thank you to all FROGS who helped to make this so successful - October 2002.
Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Yrs. 5 / 6 from Georgeham and Marwood Schools enjoyed a whole day of drama on Monday 20th January 2003.
Everybody acted and performed the difficult speeches written 400 years ago enjoying the action but realising just what evil can come from being too ambitious!
Two Scottish generals, Macbeth and Banquo meet up with three witches and proclaim that one day Macbeth will be king! He is amazed but ambitious!
Macbeth wrote of this prophesy to his wife who knew it could only come true if the present king was killed; she plotted his death and got Macbeth to do the dreadful deed.
The guards were drugged and the king killed. Macbeth knew he had done a terrible thing and his deed haunted him in the form of nightmares. Eventually after more battles Macduff killed Macbeth and Duncan the Meek became the rightful king.

A great story had been told but the warning is there; don't take ambitions too far!
A new venture we have taken on this year is the NT Guardianship Scheme where schools learn more about their local area with the help of the Wardens. We are focusing on Baggy Point and Yr 4 are working on a Visitor Survey.
Red Nose day was a great success again and well over £160 was sent to this good cause. We had some excellent 'red heads' too!
INSPIRATION!
James Tonks, the author of Sword Watchers has spent a day with us this year as has Simon James.(Dear Greenpeace is just one of his many books.) Class 4 also went to see Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore do a presentation about their boooks about The Outernet! All of these visits have been very worthwhile and a very important part of our curriculum.
Swamp Buggies Galore!
Design and Technology project
Summer Term 2003 Year 5/6. Everyone had a great time making these and they all worked!
Class 4 have been working on their own stories set in Roman times as part of our topic on Romans. Henry Williamson lived in Georgeham with his family and set his most famous book, Tarka the Otter, in North Devon in the early 20th Century.
Class 4 have been so privileged to visit his Writing Hut, built on land at Ox's Cross bought with £100 prize money for Tarka the Otter. Many of his possessions, his writing desk and even his clothes, have been kept just as they were when he was alive! A wonderful morning we shall not forget in a hurry.
The Summer Fayre, July 2003
A wonderful evening both inside the school and outside when more than £1500 was raised by FROGS!
End of the Summer Term July 2003 for Year 6.
Lots of traditions, including an outing, a final assembly and Mrs. Ash's special dinner!
Good bye and good luck to all of you.
