The Website And Its Role

The website was launched in September 2001. After more than five years of development, this website and the school are about to undergo exciting changes. During the Spring Term of 2007 the Governors appointed a new head teacher, Mr Julian Thomas for September 2007 as I will be retiring at the end of the Summer Term. I will have been at Georgeham for 10 years and feel it is the right time to make this change for me, my family and the school.

My role in school has been a demanding one with the many changes that have taken place in education during recent years. However, it has also been an enormous privilege to work with the children, their families, and all the colleagues who have supported me so well. Georgeham has been a very special place to be and I wish the new head teacher every success as well as thanking the whole community for their support and very important contribution to the life of Georgeham School.
The website is here to encapsulate the special qualities that a small village school like ours can offer. We hope it conveys the happy and secure atmosphere that the children are able to enjoy. I am sure this will continue and the website will develop and be shared within the local, national and international community.
The website also offers the children the opportunity to be personally involved in a project which heightens their awareness of modern technology, and which at the same time will show the real pride they have in their school and their achievements. The photographs of the children's activities and their written contributions are what makes this website come to life. The Year 6 websites attached to this one also show the excellent standards reached by all our children at the end of their time with us.
Like many websites, ours is a source of information. Parents can find out news and information and can read reports and see photographs of their children's achievements. We hope the Guestbook shows that the website is a focus of interest and enjoyment for parents, grandparents, friends, the wider community as well as pupils past and present!
Finally, the school through its website, presents a face not only to the local community but also to the outside world. We hope there will be many more links with other schools and the wider community in the future. Plain words or mere facts are not enough to show a stranger what our school is like. We are trying to achieve more than this in our website and we hope you enjoy turning the pages of our school 'family album' just like the children enjoy sharing and turning the pages of their Special Books.
